The intricate navigation of the Straits of Magellan reminds me
of The Riddle of the Sands a bit, though without the fog.
Both books intertwine the exploration of the physical spaces and
the exploration of human relationships, loyalties and motivations.
The ultimate resolution of the physical map and the human 'map'
is skilfully done in both cases.
