This may be devious anti GA sub plot.
We know from SW that Nancy could talk about gardening. Perhaps she knew that one should never fill flower vases from the bathroom tap fed from the water tank in the loft. The flowers would die more quickly.
However I am not sure that AR would know this either unless Evgenia, who was the gardener, had read the draft and commented.
