We know from SW that Nancy could talk about gardening. Perhaps she knew
that one should never fill flower vases from the bathroom tap fed from the
water tank in the loft. The flowers would die more quickly.

I am aware that consideration of the quality of British bathroom water is
moving the discussion dangerously far away from AR's text, but on the basis
that overseas TarBoarders might not be familiar with the subtle nuances of
British plumbing, I will plunge bravely one. One shouldn't drink water from
the taps in British bath rooms, because of all the nasty things that live in
the header tank. (Dust, spiders, amoeba...) But I have never heard from any
source that such water is bad for plants. I even believe that such water could
be good for plants. Which one of us is right?
