The unreliability of Sappho

Pam - I'm glad you mentioned Titty and Sappho in connection with Pigeon Post. I have always thought there was a sort of connection. They are both thought of as moody and unreliable, but they triumph in the end. Titty suggests that they send the fire SOS via Sappho, but Roger launches her. We are told, somewhat enigmatically, that Roger "was on very good terms with Sappho". That news is rather sprung on us. Anyway Sappho flew straight home. There's a lot going on here, and the very name 'Sappho' is interesting . . .
