I'm a member of this club. By the end of my first reading of S&A, I would have given a lot to step right into Susan's shoes. Actually, I did in many ways--I am the oldest of three girls (the boss :-), I love to cook, and I grew up camping with my family in the mountains far away every summer. My father was a true "rough-it" person who loved the little challenges of camping. One of his lasting inventions is a bee-trap made of an open tuna fish can filled with water, a tripod of tiny sticks lashed together at the top, and a bit of the tuna or other protein hanging from the tripod directly over the water-filled can. The bees eat until they are bloated, can't fly, land in the water and drown. Very effective. One of my joys in life is to come up with just the right invention, created of whatever I can find around, to make our camping lives a bit easier. And I completely agree with Susan's astute opinion that people are much harder to deal with than things, as they won't stay where you put them! I like a tidy camp.
