Ah, I understand now. Yellowjackets (of the genera Vespula and Dolichovespula*) are what we Brits call "wasps". I don't blame Elizabeth's father for trapping them. I used to make wasp-traps out of jam-jars with beer at the bottom. Getting OT now so I'll stop. Although come to think of it, there's surprisingly little in the AR books about insects (apart from Scarab), bearing in mind how many of them you see when living out of doors in summer.
