In as much as AR's descriptions of whatever the activity were, appeared
to be accurate, I believe I learned quite a lot subliminally by reading
the series. I also have come to realise, years later, how many areas of
interest or endeavour the AR books have encouraged. I think you need not
_be_ a sailor, however you probably _become_ one! Or, at least a happy
and perhaps obedient crew. Now that I do sail, dinghy and some yacht
(also stinks pots - however they don't count do they ;{D )it's like it
always made sense. My chum, who I'm "working" on re sailing seems to be
less apprehensive about things, having read S&A and half of Swallowdale.
