I can't imagine why more women don't give this a shot. I get a kick out of "hearing" all of your opinions, love the sense of humor in so many posts, and enjoy the perspective of those of you who are closer to the era & the places than I. That was not meant to be offensive--we are all the age we are....
Of course, for most of my life I have adored these books. I am grateful to those who start a new topic for all of us to think about!
Perhaps the name TarBoard evokes mental pictures of black gooey stuff or strict adherence to sailing issues, and thus draws fewer females (and children) to check it out in the first place. And although we wish it were otherwise, there are fewer and fewer people who have read the books, leaving more browsers who would have no idea what we are all going on about if they chance by the site.
