We have 3 houses with associations to characters or to Ransome himself.

Pull Wood House is in a good location on Windermere, but is too large. On the other hand, could parts of it have some resemblance to Beckfoot in the same way that parts of the larger Bank Ground Farm could become the smaller Holly Howe? Also the Crossley girls who seem to be one of the many possible inspirations for the Amazons, stayed there in the summer and had a sailing dingy as well as the Esperance.

Lanehead was associated with one of the happiest times in Ransome's life, when he had a room there, stayed with the Collingwoods, and learned to sail. Dora and Barbara Collingwood are considered a possible part of the inspiration for the Amazons. I don't have access to the Biography or Autobiography right now, but there is some information there about the interior layout of the house.

Tent Lodge is near Lanehead and Ground bank Farm and is associated with Pauline and Georgie Rawdon Smith, who were very Amazon-like. Look for the picture link provided by Owen Roberts in the recent Tent Lodge thread for a Tent Lodge photograph.

Also see the excellent article Mike B recommended in his Tent Lodge thread, with speculation about it being Beckfoot.
