Duncan, that was a magnificent picture of the Rio/Long Island area that I had not seen before.

You raise a good point about examining other places that are in the approximate position on Windermere as on the composite lake. This goes beyond Beckfoot, but there are lots of places well described in the books that haven't yet been identified. Your point about the Old Rectory and its Bay is very good. Is Belle Grange too big in retrospect to be Beckfoot? I don't know where it is but as you said you followed your childhood logic, I assume it is somewhere near Pull Beck?
