Claire, I've got the same problem with the Tarboard home page. It comes out as thin horizontal stripes of the background .gif (the speckled background) and thick stripes of black (on Firefox) or white (on Internet Explorer 6). Replicable on two different computers.

I don't at the moment have access to Opera or Safari but I suspect it comes out odd on them as well.

I've fired off an email to Ian. I don't *think* this is at our end but I haven't tried to read the HTML for the home page to see if I can spot what's going on. The problem doesn't happen on any other of the pages.
