Peter, Jock,

I tried to do my homework last night. In the right foreground of Jock's photo is a wall coming to an abrupt end at its Southern end (and abutting the station building at the other end). Perhaps this is the wall appearing behind the engine on page 17? It is certainly of a similar height and build. If is is the same wall then it has been reversed South to North for its appearance on p 17.

Now, Peter tells us that the fells are actually to the West of the railway track although they are illustrated as being to the East. So, they are also reversed West to East for p 17.

So, with these two reversals, AR has got the two interesting features (fells and wall) positioned in-frame behind the engine.

In reality they are on opposite sides of the track but on p 17 they are on the same side! Quite a change.

Well - those were last night's thoughts! And now Jock has come up with an earlier illustration of the station and there does not seem to be any indication of the wall in its near right position.

Back to the drawing board?

Brad Henry.
