Hello Folks. Sorry if this has been discussed before - I couldn't find anything - but has anyone had any success making a 'traditional' S&A type tent?

Polynylon-weldedseam-kevlarpole offerings may be vastly superior in terms of comfort, space and watertightness but somehow they have the same feel of real camping as does a Gaz light compared to a hurricane lantern or an air mattress compared to bracken with rocks sticking through it.

That being said, a few modern sensibilities come to the fore... we get a lot of deer ticks around here and I don't the kids any more exposed to Lyme than I can help... Plus I wouldn't want something that would flame up like an Amaretto biscuit wrapper at the slightest spark. Has anyone got any experience they can share - to perhaps put me off a stupid idea if nothing else. :-)

Cheers
Luke
