It had a 1/500 setting but this tended to jam, so I didn't like using it. You are right in saying 1/250, but I had to shoot earlier than I would have liked.

Hastening back to topic - I cannot recall any discussion about Dick's camera, shown in GN? page 279. It's not an Isolette, but looks to me like, maybe, a J B Ensign or Kodak model. There was no double exposure prevention, as we know that Dick had to remember to wind on. The shutter had to be cocked before release (Dick forgot). He used a shutter speed of 1/25, although he was resting the camera on his knee. That was risking camera shake, but he must have got away with it. (For me, anything under 1/60 is touch and go.) Nice big negative though - 3¼ x 2¼ !
