TarBoarders interested in immersing themselves in the events which were
happening around the time AR was writing SA may be interested in the essay
on Colonel Percy Fawcett recently reposted on If Not Duffers... . Was Colonel
Fawcett - with his Amazonian expeditions, explorations and search for lost
gold mines - an influence on AR's creation of SA? Was he, in part perhaps,
an inspiration for the character of the restless James Turner?

IND have recently awarded TarBoard's own Duncan its James Turner
Elephant prize (I couldn't remember whether it was a green or pink elephant.)
for his new blog and excellent article, Swallows locations: the case for a
geographical approach.
