I can't ever say I found them inspirational as a child; they were somewhere to escape to from the minor despairs of my own life. They were real children doing interesting and exciting things without adults, free from the trials and tribulations of other children (bullies etc). They inhabited a world I wished I could be in but knew that I never would.
