On the other hand, as I recall it, the lads had the camera set up on a tripod when they were photographing the fisherman's decoy vessel being cast off by Ralph Strakey and George, er, what's-his-name.

Now I'll own up to something. The picture I posted before was for a later Vest Pocket model, the Series III. I understand it was very little different to look at from Dick's Model B, which was produced in the UK from 1915-1934. (The series III was made in the UK from 1931-1937.) The first Vest Pocket model used telescopic arms to support the lens, and so looked different to the Model B and Series III, which both used a dropdown bed (the cover when closed) to support the extended bellows, rather than the telescopic struts.

Claire's Mom's camera might well have been a Series III Vanity. This came in a range of colours, and with a matching satin-lined clamshell case. The Vanity Ensemble (1928-1929) even included a lipstick, compact, mirror, and change pocket. It was made in gray, green, red and turquoise and had an art deco pattern.
