I think that in 1950 had I gone to Cliff's Camera Shop in Enid, Oklahoma (Cliff's is still in business in the same building) and asked for "flash powder" I would have received some rather quizical looks and some rather pointed comments about kids and explosives (I know my father would have). I did, however, check out several books from the library on the history of photography and absorbed them - a direct result of reading about Dick's exploits in Big Six. I became an "armchair" photographer along with my actual use (at that time) of my mother's Kodak Bantam 828 camera - essentially a simple folding box camera -- I have one (not my mother's) in my collection.

Thanks, I would think flash powder would have had other uses long after flash bulbs came into general use.
