I can't be sure that my bike will still be there when I come out of the shop.

My bike, unlocked, never got stolen. It was covered in rust and had a Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub. Too dirty and unfashionable to be stolen.
Friends leave similar bicycles, again unlocked, at Paddington Station in London and they never get stolen either.

Mind you the 3 speed Sturmey Archer may come back into fashion, after all very expensive fixed wheel traffic bikes are all the rage in London at the moment. Not far removed from the 1930's delivery bike.

Bring back the dromedary with it's blue beads.
