I have to agree with Pauline that Mavis was not Amazon.
Swallow and Mavis were sailed by the Altounyans/Swallows.
A boat called Beetle was sailed by Pauline and her sister Georgina,
those two red haired tomboy girls.
The Amazon described and drawn by AR has far more in common with Beetle than Mavis IMHO.
By the by this is my first post under my new username Dan Ford which is also my real name.
