The book in question is certainly overpriced - I would estimate a value of approximately £700-£800. I have always had strong feelings about this kind of trickery, although the seller has done nothing illegal.

The fact that the book should not really have a dust-wrapper is made quite obvious by the pictures - the board cover and in particular the spine are considerably faded and marked, showing long existence without a wrapper.

What really worries me, however, (apologies to those who've heard this before) is that in this case a buyer will know from the small print that the wrapper is a very good facsimile, but any subsequent owner may not be given that information and that the book may be sold on as a genuine first edition with original wrapper (possible value £7000-£9000). Only an addition such as "This wrapper is a facsimile of the original" would ease my concerns.

By the way, the opening bid is not £1100 - this is a "Buy it Now" price, best offers may be accepted.
