Yeah - just had a look at the photos and it does look very Swallowdale-like. Quite frustrating that I must have been within feet of it the other day! It might have been the place I decided was gulch actually! While I was up there I climbed a rock to get a good view, and it did occur to me that the place was quite Swallowdale like (minus the tarn) and that when Ransome was writing Swallowdale he probably hadn't imagined High Topps yet, and so it was not impossible that they might have been in a similar place. Indeed, the description of the gulch is that it was like Swallowdale but without a stream (or, they first though, a cave). But of course it was a very long, dry summer and even the wells were dry...
