I say, but that's a fine howdy-do, to discover that some word used
in the common American vernacular actually had its origins in
British usages. Considering that the US was originally a British
colony, and our ancestores (for the most part) were British
citizens, it should be no tremendous wonderment to discover quite
a few words used in the American language to have their origins
traced back to their British beginnings. It is a heritage that
I for one am extremely proud to claim.

One of the blessings of detailed readings of the works of Ransome is
the reacquaintance of us Americans with those British roots of our
still somewhat common, and powerful language. Ransome just
enriches that heritage. For that, we should all be thankful.
