I always use the "most recent messages" option on TarBoard. This option is better for me than scrolling down to pick up the latest threads.
Hopefully I can remember what is going on in most threads, if not, only then do I have to scroll down to find the last post on that title.
Usually I only I pick out a reference to italicise, if there has has been a flood of postings on that topic or the topic is dealing with a number of points.
