John, on which beach where in Hawaii? It varies a lot from beach to beach, and from island to island. I gather Honolulu isn't all that entrancing any more, nor Diamond Head either. But the Big Island (Hawaii) has much more variation and IMHO is a great destination. I like Kauai also, especially the NE area around Hanalei. I have not been to Maui, Molokai, Lanai, or the smaller islands.
