There are problems with the reality of GN.
The nesting season of the Great Northern Diver is the obvious one. A UK wintering individual of the species Gavia Immer sets off for his or her breeding grounds in "late April or early May" and returns to Britain in August or so.
The latest possible date for Easter is April 25th.
How much fouling would the Sea Bear have acquired so early in the year, so far North?
The only way to fit the plot is for everyone to have an extra long summer half term holiday.
