AR seemed to have much trouble with his dates.

What's more, he admitted it. In some notes written on the synopsis of GN?, AR said:

"Time. June would be best. Why they are not at school, heaven only knows !!!!!"

Typically, AR was never really happy with GN?. In his diary for April 30, 1946, he wrote:

"Read all through. Beginning slow. End tame."

and on December 14:

"Finished book. Very bad beginning and end. 400 pp."
