In the recent reprint of Racundra's First Cruise the editor makes a reasonable case for a small island in the Baltic, Ruhnu, visited by AR on the Kittiwake (?I think?) which has a not-dissimilar form - though a less Caribbean climate! The same island was passed by AR and The Ancient Mariner in the Racundra later, and may well have stuck in his mind as a model for the Crab Island of PD.
