Pam, also being both of the above, I think there is a tendency amongst fantasy fans (not so much science fiction fans perhaps, if I may be permitted to draw a distinguishing characteristic which some might debate) to find a way that nearly anything they like can be classified fantasy. On the grounds that they don't like mundane writing, so if they like it... and real fantasy fans tend not to like science fiction, either.
