Dear Peter, If you dig into your e-mail archives, you'll find that several years ago - at a time when you were contemplating no longer posting to TarBoard - I wrote to you with exactly the same sentiments.
It's not pleasant or necessary to view the world constantly through such dark glasses. I remember the occasion when one TarBoarder wanted to show you the delights of sailing - he proposed that you and he capsize a dinghy together - you were deeply offended and accused him of wanting to see you drowned. Your strong reaction to Ed's plumbing post indicated that you were convinced that he was mocking you, yet a more kindly TarBoarder than Ed one could not find this side of the gates of heaven. TarBoard is one of the gentlest discussion boards that I have come across with a large amount of 'self moderation' and very rare little tweaks from Ian.
Please accept that the many TarBoarders, myself included, respect you as an individual and the work that you have done, and are doing, for the AR cause. However, on a discussion board one expects a fair amount of cut and thrust. In the vast majority of TarBoard debates it's the arguments that one disagrees with that are being put down, not their author.
PS. You weren't the only TarBoarder to be critical of the BP topic and my comments when welcoming the new TARS discussion forum were not directed at you.
