But Swallow is central to the whole series... the Walker family as a whole doesn't exist except in the summer... I suppose AR intended the imagery of the family coming up from the south in the summer to be like the migration of swallows (European... African swallows are not migratory, especially with a string in their beaks carrying a coconut...oops, sorry). Of course Winter Holiday was not thought of in the beginning. So Swallow appears in the "Peter Duck" imagination series. When I were a lad "boarding school" was thought of as being the place for jolly escapades (Winker Watson and "Jennings Goes to School" type stuff...) on this side of parenting it seems negligent... your mileage may vary on this opinion....
