Jock - I agree. Please Ian do reconsider. It is the one forum that I view every day, often two or three times, and the only one I contribute to regularly. If it goes I will miss it very much (despite even my own recent 'difficulties'!).

As a forum it is a joy, it had proper moderation, it requires no previous membership of any organisation and allows people from all walks of life and the world to discuss something that they have a great admiration and affection for.

Like many readers and contributors here I am not a member of TARS (in fact my discovery of TarBoard came about when following a Internet search result on Peter Roche and his troubles with TARS!), yet through TarBoard I have discovered much about AR I never knew and have gained insights into aspects of the books that has passed my by during the last forty odd years.

I just hope Ian that if it does have to close that it is not due to recent skirmishes that some of us have had between us. Despite all those we are bound together by our interest in AR. The TARS forum will be no substitute even if they relent and allow non-member participation - I took one look when it was announced and saw those dreaded words 'fully moderated' - a mere euphemism for stifling free expression and proper discussion.

Lastly Ian, if that is your final decision then thanks for all your work over the years; and for your sensible intervention when for me things got a little out of hand!
