Somebody brought up the thought earlier that if Old Billy was walking over the fells to Bigland and had to stop a night to do so, Bigland would be quite far from the end of The Lake. Note in the section Ed scanned in that AR says Old Billy will be "stopping there the night". I read "there" as Bigland itself, so the village would be a day's walk away or less--not so far after all. This supports the theory that Bigland is one of the "cut & paste" parts of AR's territory.
