My AA atlas of the British Isles has the village of Bigland Hall a couple of miles south-west of Newby Bridge, which is at the south end of Windermere. I think that AR has picked a local name and given it a vague location, which is not where the village of that name really is. In casual conversation the "Hall" would have been dropped as being superfluous.
