Hi Peter - the very question proves this to be a contentious issue. And when a contentious issue is also a financial issue - i.e. who pays a pretty substantial sum each year to host a forum - then things can go downhill pretty quickly. For that reason I see why the TARS group might want to please their members before they please the non-members. I have no intention of getting into a tit-for-tat discussion on this though. I'm not a member so it's really none of my business what they decide.

But is TarBoard a TARS board?? I thought it was somewhat independant or TARS, which would suggest it's also open to some kindly soul taking the weight off Ian's shoulders and simply starting another free board called 'the TarBoard' that anyone can use. Enough folks seem to like the clunky format to accept an equally clunky but free and open forum elsewhere. I run a Yahoo list for Mirror dinghy sailors in the US and find it works OK - can't beat it for the price anyway.

Cheers
Luke
