I like how when you're reading one story, it makes a subtle reference that brings another one to mind and sort of ties the two together

For instance, here are some from Swallowdale and Peter Duck

SD: (Roger)
> He remembered what he had heard in several stories about wounded men fainting from pain. He was not quite sure how they did it

PD: (talking about Bill)
> he slid across the deck in a faint
. . .
> "That first shot. Broke my arm ... All right ... I saw the waterspout. I saw 'em go." And he fainted again.

SD:
> "Take care," said Titty. "It may be a treasure chart. It may be a deadly secret. It may crumble at a touch. They often do."

PD:
> there was nothing except two old, stained, folded pieces of parchment. They almost fell to pieces as Captain Flint opened them out.

SD:
> "You’re both wrong, really," said Mate Peggy, lying on her back and looking up at the sky from the bottom of the boat. "You ought never to talk to the man at the wheel, and you’ve both been doing it."

PD:
> "I steered nearly all our watch," said Nancy.
> "Don’t talk to the man at the wheel," said Captain Flint

(this one may be too obvious)

What are some other 'tie points' that you've noticed?
