Jock, as this is not a railway enthusiasts board, I refrained from posting a full list of Welsh n-g lines that either closed or lost their passenger services, but as you say, the WHR was one - along with the Corris, Welshpool & Llanfair, and Glyn Valley. As far as the Lakes are concerned, the only line was La'al Ratty, which in its reduced form survived the Depression, although I recall that it also suffered a significant drop in traffic in the 1930s.
