This week the Guardian has contained booklets on the Great War, and today's edition includes an excerpt from Arthur Ransome's experiences over the Eastern Front, drawn from his autobiography.
He recalls a flight over the lines in a French-built Voisin aircraft (in which he and the pilot were nearly brought down by Russian gunners).
