Hollow in the rock. Isn't this a kind of sanctuary? Some time ago I posted a message about the prevalence of sanctuaries in AR's works. So there you go - confirmed. What an image Peter Ceresole's experience on the rooftop creates. I remember that winter well. The waterpipe on the house next to ours broke and for days there was a fantastic icicle about three feet diameter frmo the breach down to the ground. Waterpipe on the outside of the house? Never! Forget about Beckfoot plumbing.
