I just re-read the start of Winter Holiday and then checked Pigeon Post.
Bridget and Mother were at Holly Howe for Christmas and then left to see Daddy in Malta. They left the others there until it was time to go back to school.
Bridget had whooping cough during the term time before the start of Pigeon Post which is why the Walkers went straight to Beckfoot from school despite the paperhangers and plasterers, so no quarantine flags were needed.
