I forgot the tenuous AR connection for "Mirelle". Here it is:

As "every schoolboy knows", Jim Brading is based on Jim Clay.

The Clay family boat was and is "Firefly" and Peter Clay tells me that there is an entry in "Firefly's" log for 1937 commenting on "Mirelle" as a nice new boat.

She is like "Lapwing" in hull colour and rig but is just a shade bigger and has a counter stern, not the transom stern that John approved of. "Lapwing", a Maurice Griffiths design, was sunk in a collision in the Channel after the Busks sold her, long ago.

That's probably enough sisterhooks for now!
