The fact that he actually qualified 'wrist watch' is in itself a clue
All the other times it was just 'watch'.
This could indicate that 'pocket watch' is the norm and is thus just 'watch' while a 'wrist watch' would be somewhat unusual and thus spelled out.
This was well after the race in SD so she could have 'upgraded' at some point.
