Quite good this internet thingy.Just highlight the Latin phrase copy it into the little box, press return and up pops a translation. What I can't work out, however, is whether Jock was making a clever pun or just playing at ML correcting Andrew's Latin.
Of course, Peter H is right, too many in jokes make the world of Ransome seem cliquey but I think that comes with the territory: as enthusiasts for a relatively obscure and disappearing world we see significance in small things.
Now a pithy Latin tag for that would be handy!
