You have not worn, as Roger obviously wears, a collar-less shirt, with separate starched collar attaached to the collar band with a back stud (short) and a front stud (longer, as it has to go through the collar band twice and the starched collar twice.
I imagine that such a shirt would not be worn whilst exploring; it would be the male equivalent of the Amazon's party frocks.
