I certainly did, as part of our school uniform. This was in the 1950s, and even then it was fairly normal to wear the uniform on days off, although not when camping, I'd have thought. But the uniform was important, a symbol of belonging to a higher order of organisation. In the '30s I can easily imagine children wearing their school uniform at least some of the time on holiday. However, again, not when camping.

I'm sure the SAs wore civvies; as Johannes points out, all the illustrations and the available Hollywoods are tieless.
