Further to an earlier thread: I took some UK visitors for my first visit for some years (shame!) to the Thunder Bay Museum. Prominently displayed just inside is a conical structure of sticks covered with birchbark and clearly labelled WIGWAM. When I asked a staff member if Tipi might not be a more accurate term, I was very firmly told that Wigwam was correct. So maybe AR wasn't just being an ignorant Brit....
