Daddy ?

Is there any indication of who, if anyone, the character of Commander Ted Walker is based on? He is quite a presence in the books with the Swallows. I've been reading WDMTGTS and SW over the holidays, and his actual appearances are a joy.

Is he AR's own father?
Ernest Altounyan?
A male Collingwood?

or is he the 'perfect' father and purely fictional?
