I had the Collingwood sisters and Evgenia and her sister pencilled in, but then I realised that AR had met the Soong Dynasty - Soong ChingLing - who ordered her husband out of their house as it was being shelled by rebel troops, in 1921, with the words "China doesn't need me - China can't replace you - get moving!"* does seem to have some rather Nancyish characteristics!

I have not seen "Ramsome in China" yet, but it does seem to me that Soong ChingLing would have been very interested in what AR had to say about Russia.

Her decision to stay in China in 1949 as the rest of her family decamped to Taiwan and the States seems oddly prefigured by Missee Lee's decision to stay in San Dao (Three Islands - a very plausible Chinese name) at the end of the book.

*Anecdote related by Deng XiaoPeng in his funeral oration for her in 1981.
