Mike - I praised Andy B for being honest, because he admitted that he was not sorry for being pedantic - and why should he be? Arthur Ransome went to great pains to get things right in his books.

As to "right all along", I did not mean that I have been always right on fact (who is?), but that I have been unfairly judged on Tarboard (not by the present moderating team, who IMO are doing fine). As to publishing email addresses, again in general I agree with AndyB, but my email is on this post, and you are, genuinely, welcome to email me, Mike - I would be pleased to hear from you.

As to 'topic', it is a Tarboard custom that anyone can start a 'branch thread' veering away from the main topic, and this is done very frequently - in fact it is one of the appealing characteristics of Tarboard. The topic of Cochy had been raised, and I made a comment about it, based on my reading of the subject. Your words "as you apparently decided it ought to have been" are quite unfair. I repeat, I will be happy to discuss this calmly by private email, if you would like to. Mike - I am a Ransome devotee, just like you are - isn't it about time you realised that?
