Poole Park lake in Poole, Dorset used to have quite a few black swans. As a child, I was told they were from Australia and were mute. Since I had never heard the white swans say anything, I couldn't see what difference that made. When I last visited the park (April 2008) I didn't spot any black swans, so maybe they are all gone. Pity.
